Hidden Kingdoms is a mobile app designed to support anxious travellers, especially vulnerable young adults or people with hidden disabilities as they navigate real-world journeys. By blending breathing techniques, spatial audio, and calming visual design, the app offers emotional support from departure to destination.
What We Did
– We developed an immersive companion app that encourages wellbeing through mindful navigation. Key features include:
– Spatialised audio experiences and meditations, commissioned from artists, to help regulate anxiety on-the-go
– Artist-designed characters that are revealed as users complete journeys, offering rewards and motivation
– Progress check-ins and gentle prompts to support reflection and self-monitoring
– Integration with Google’s location API to track journeys
– Built in Unity and designed for accessibility and ease of use
The app draws on research linking nature, sound, and mental health — and aims to create a portable sanctuary for those who may find travel stressful or overwhelming.
Impact
Hidden Kingdoms has generated interest from neurodivergent communities and is currently in active development.
