VR Assessment for Social Care

We worked with Calderdale College and the Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust to create a VR training experience for social care students. The project explored how immersive technology could enhance learning outcomes and support the development of future-ready healthcare professionals.

What We Did
– This innovative collaboration brought together education, industry and technology. We:
– Worked alongside T Level students to co-develop and test a realistic clinical VR scenario
– Created a detailed 3D model of the training space used in the NHS simulation centre
– Built the experience in Unity, incorporating interaction design to support student learning
– Delivered a user-friendly VR training tool that aligned with sector-specific needs
– The project gave students hands-on experience and allowed them to test scenarios in a professional simulation setting.

Impact
The VR experience was successfully used by social care students at Calderdale College, offering them a practical and engaging way to build clinical confidence. As one of the first colleges to integrate VR in social care education, Calderdale set a precedent for future training innovation in the sector. The datalogging backend also enabled automated tracking and recording of user performance, helping educators monitor progress and tailor support more effectively.
