Mother Nature is a multi-platform project focused on sustainability and climate justice. Combining a mobile game, VR experience, and creative storytelling, the project empowers young people to take climate action. At its centre is a powerful Black female avatar who guides players through missions to save the planet — flipping traditional science narratives and putting diverse representation at the forefront.
What We Did
– We co-designed the experience with Powered by CAN, a youth-led initiative in the Black Country. Girls aged 11–18 helped shape the game’s narrative, characters, and mechanics. Our contribution included:
– Developing a mobile Endless Runner game in Unity, available on iOS and Android
– Building a VR experience to complement the mobile game
– Creating stylised 3D characters and animations using Blender
– Designing gameplay to gamify real-world climate data and encourage behavioural change
– The result is a playful, empowering tool that speaks directly to a global audience aged 12–25.
Impact
Mother Nature premiered at the V&A’s Digital Design Weekend, engaging more than 3,500 visitors. The project continues to evolve as a platform for activism, education, and co-creation with young people passionate about the planet.
