Our Immersive Arts Bootcamp, Introduction to Unreal Engine 5 is designed for creative practitioners to develop their existing digital skills to enhance their career pathway within the creative digital industries. The focus of study is in developing 3D skills in Unreal Engine 5 and Blender, enabling participants to create their own VR, gaming and other extended reality projects. Through this programme participants professional portfolios will be improved and developed whilst working with our industry team, we aim to support participants gain promotion in their current roles or future work opportunities.
This course is free. Places are limited, and priority will be given to applicants who are unemployed or under-employed, from a Government Priority Place within the West Midlands, neurodivergent or have another disability.
We will be delivering 100 hours of guided training over 7 weeks. We also provide follow-up career support after the course ends.
The Course, Immersive Arts Bootcamp, Introduction to Unreal Engine 5 will be delivered from:
- Start Thursday 13th February 2025 (induction)
- Sessions every Monday and Wednesday
- Drop-in sessions every Tuesday
- Finish on Wednesday 26th March

Virtual Production
This year, we are excited to include new modules that cover virtual production, motion capture, and performance capture.
These cutting-edge technologies will enable participants to create more dynamic and realistic immersive experiences.
Learn how virtual production techniques blend physical and digital worlds in real time, master the precision of motion capture technology for realistic animations, and explore performance capture to bring digital characters to life with nuanced performances.
Industry support
BOM’s industry team will continue to support participants for the next 6 months with introductions to key people from industry through individual and bespoke career pathway programmes with the aim to secure promotions and paid work opportunities for all participants.
