We’re back with our final Immersive Arts Bootcamp Showcase for this year!
This month, we celebrated the achievements of our latest cohort, who completed the course from March to April. They were the first to take part in our condensed Bootcamp format, just 7 weeks instead of the usual 12! That meant double lessons each week and a more intensive environment where they learnt to use Unreal Engine in record time.
Thanks to our fantastic Bootcamp leaders, Marcus, Christian and Vorn and all extra study hours put in by the participants, (from drop-in sessions to self-directed learning), they produced some awesome projects. We’re always proud of our talented cohorts, and this one was no exception!
A Brilliant Showcase
We love throwing open the BOM doors and inviting participants to showcase their work to industry professionals, creative sector pros and BOM friends.
Many of our visitors were completely new to BOM, so we’re always proud to see their reactions when they expereince the talent emerging from our bootcaps.
This time, our cohort exhibited their work across three floors, using the Virtual Production Suite and Triangle Studio to present projects with a strong focus on audio and virtual production. We had a very busy ground floor studio where we were delighted to see our bootcampers and guests network and engage with their brilliant projects.
We loved seeing people play with the projects, which ranged from a living museum experience exploring a Nepalese festival to a fun low-poly shooting game and more! Well done to our cohort, they have been an absolute pleasure to teach, and we can’t wait to see where they take their skills next.
A Creative Industry Panel
Our previous panel discussion was a hit with participants and attendees, so we knew we had to include another! This time we were delighted to welcome a panel led by our very own CEO, Karen Newman, who explored the region’s creative talent, opportunities and the importance of community, diversity and skills development. She was joined by Mickel Ledford, Creative Head at ITG and Councillor John Cotton, Leader of Birmingham City Council.
We were thrilled to host them at BOM for the first time and we were proud to see how impressed they were by the work of our fantastic bootcampers.
What a brilliant way to wrap up our latest run of bootcamps. Our team will be taking a well-earned break from teaching to focus on other BOM projects and begin preparations for the next edition of our Immersive Arts Bootcamps. We’ll be back later this year with two upcoming bootcamps, scheduled for September 2025 and January 2026.
