We’re counting down the days until our Immersive Arts Bootcamp Showcase!

Taking place on Thursday 11th December at 1pm – 3pm, we’re excited for our bootcampers to share their work, which they’ve been developing over the last 12 weeks.

Back in September, we met our current cohort for the very first time. As with many of our bootcampers, most do not have experience working with game engines, but often have some creative background, which can range from fine art to web design. They joined us for 12 weeks of intensive bootcamp sessions, where BOM provides them with laptops for the duration of the course. Each week includes an essential, full day of teaching followed by additional, optional drop-in sessions, which participants can use to brush up on skills, work on their projects and access tech.

Sessions are held weekly and led by our dedicated bootcamp team; the participants couldn’t be in better hands, as our team all specialise in different areas of XR, from 3D modelling and Virtual Production. When not working on bootcamp, some of the team form part of BOM’s Immersive Studio, where they actively work on BOM’s XR projects both for commissions and clients, or run immersive sessions with pupils in schools as part of our Learning and Engagement team.

At the beginning of the course, each bootcamp participant has an idea of what they would like to create, and we’re really excited to share that the group are almost ready to share the results of 12 weeks of hard work. They’ve definitely levelled up their Immersive Arts skills and we’re incredibly proud of them!

What can you expect?

At the showcase, you will be able to walk around the ground floor studio and mezzanine areas at BOM and experience the participants’ work, which ranges from experiences to playable games. Some of the immersive projects can also be viewed in VR headsets, expect games inspired by Ukrainian folklore, a nostalgic fantasy game, Sci-fi and interactive gallery spaces, and so much more.

Our participants are a friendly bunch, and you’ll get to meet them, chat about their work, find out more about who they are and what they’d like to do with their new skills. Here’s a snippet of some of their projects…

Our Industry Panel  – Finding Your Future

At 2.30pm, we’re also hosting a short, informal 30-minute panel with some of our Industry friends! It’s a great way to learn more about the industry and ask them any questions. The aim is to inspire and share advice. We’re really pleased to share that we have three fantastic speakers joining us for ‘Finding Your Future’. This panel will be hosted by our very own Caroline White, BOM’s Head of Programme (job share with Louise Latter).
