That’s a wrap on another Immersive Arts Bootcamp!
Education, inclusivity and diversity is an important part of BOM and we’re proud to offer our Immersive Arts Bootcamp which teaches adult learners to use Unreal Engine 5 to build their own immersive projects. At the end of the bootcamp, the participants are invited to share their projects at our Immersive Arts Bootcamp Showcase.

It’s showcase time!
After 12 weeks of intense learning, our November – January cohort took part in our Industry Showcase, where they shared their final projects with our showcase attendees from the immersive and creative industry.
The projects included using interactive architectural interiors to depict the emotional journey of infertility to a short film which blends animation and stop motion and a cyber punk dystopian world to game where players are invited to join a janitor exploring a shopping mall after hours, and so many more!
It was great to hear the positive feedback from the attendees who were impressed with the projects emerging from the bootcamp. Well done to our bootcampers who have worked hard to achieve fantastic results!
Industry Panel
This showcase also included an industry panel which included Katrine Loraas, Creative Director from Holosphere, Alex Harvey, Co-Founder of RiVR and BOM’s very own XR Developer, Laura Pincombe.
Chaired by Hayley Pepler, Head of Culture, Creative Industries and Digital Roadmap at West Midlands Combined Authority, the panel discussed industry trends including the rise of AI, discussed their career paths as well as tips on breaking into the immersive industry. It was an insightful panel and we were thrilled to be joined by our industry experts who were able to share some valuable advice for our bootcampers and attendees.
Whilst the bootcamp has come to an end, we continue to nurture and support our participants and we offer 6 months of career support, with the aims for our participants to progress into creative industry careers.
In the past 12 months, 61% of our participants have achieved positive outcomes, which have included employment in the games industry, levelling up their current careers or securing additional work following the course using their new immersive skills using Unreal Engine 5. We’re proud of our bootcampers and we look forward to seeing where their new skills take them!
