YOUNG LEARNERS ONLINE WORKSHOPS

At BOM, we recognise that learners have unique ways of developing their skills. Each of these mini online workshops will help learners improve their digital skills. We have presented them so they can either follow the step by step instructions or follow our videos to help them access creative digital skills. Digital Mark Making

Mark making for any form of art is a great exercise to begin developing skills. This session looks at investigating digital mark making using Kleki.com. This short video demonstrates all the tools of kleki and outlines some tasks you can follow to focus your skills.  

Layering digital artwork

In this session we will be show you how to layer up your digital artwork using the website kleki.com. We are taking inspiration from the art work of linoprinter Eric Gaskell.

Digital character sketches

This session looks at the work of Shaun Tan and the futuristic character illustrations he creates. To create your own characters a great website is YouIDraw. It has a range of great mark making tools that are easy and effective to use for illustrative sketches.

Stop Motion animation

can be made by showing a series of still images that change very quickly from one to the next and appear to move through a trick of the mind called Persistence of vision.

Using the FlipAnim website is an easy way to use to create your own.

Collaborative digital art

This session is all about collaboration to create a piece of digital work. Using the website Aggie and a creative friend you will be able to create a ‘forgery’ inspired by David Hockney’s iPad art portfolio.

Live Code Music – Beginners. 

Live coding is a performance of coding changes to digital sound and digital art. The performance is improvised and uses a series of simple algorithms to inform the live composition. With simple codes and clear instructions, this is the best way to have fun and explore a new talent.

Live Code Music – Advanced.

This follow on workshops will show learners how to adapt live code music to can change the speed, pitch and texture. This will allow learners to improvise, compose and structure sounds to make them more interesting and complex.

STEAM Learning for Children

We have compiled an awesome list of activities children can do at home. Activities cover STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) topics with a mixture of interactive online activities and creative craft making fun. From creating cool coding, balloon breathing lungs or roaring rockets, your family can have lots of shared fun with these links.
