How are activists and artists re-framing and reclaiming data technologies* and digital applications to support and comfort communities?

This exhibition, co-curated by Charlene Prempeh of A Vibe Called Tech, provided a glimpse into some of the digital work being made that challenges the giants of the internet by creating spaces made up of care and empowerment.

Featuring works by Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, A M Darke, Stephanie Dinkins & Mimi Ọnụọha, the creations presented provide differing perspectives on how community can be realised and facilitated.

decode was an opportunity to reflect on the ingredients of community in the digital space and the ways in which that relationship might positively impact the Black experience.

* data technologies are products or services that are based on data generated by both human and machines.
